"Cody where is it?" Cindy demanded, "I have to go surfing at three and it takes me 20 minutes to get there!" Cindy threw her baby brother's toys across the room as she dug through the heaps.
"NO! I WON'T tell you!" her baby brother spat back.
"Cody tell me or I will tell Mom!" Cindy retorted.
Cody sighed with defeat at the prospect of getting in trouble. "Fine," he said, "It's-"
But he was cut short as their mother yelled upstairs. "Cody! Time to go to your friend's birthday party!"
Cody's kid mind took over as he excitedly ran downstairs and out the door to the car in the driveway. Cindy groaned with aggravation as it pulled away. Now she had no way whatsoever of knowing where her little brother hid her surfboard. She sat on one of the few clear spots on her brother's floor, then fell over on her back with frustration. She twirled her blonde hair as she tried to think of a way she could surf without a board. She stretched her arms and felt her hands land on something. What caught her attention was that it wasn't plastic, like the rest of Cody's toys, it was fabric. She sat up and picked the object out of the pile. It was a brown cowboy hat, with a wide brim and a little curve in the front, angled towards the wearer.
With curiosity, Cindy stood up with the hat and began to carefully tread across the messy room. She almost tripped once, but managed to get into the hallway nonetheless. Cindy made her way back to her room in the dead quiet of the currently empty house.
When she opened her room's door, she stepped inside. Before making her way to the mirror however, Cindy decided to quietly close the door behind her. There was always a chance that her Mom or Cody forgot something and had to turn around. She didn't want Cody to see her in possession of his hat.
She held the hat with both hands by the brim and raised it to her head. The hat's lining hugged her head, and was very comfortable. She looked up to see her reflection in the mirror. Cindy had to admit, the hat looked really good. She leaned closer to the mirror, looking into her own eyes. All of a sudden, her grayish-blue eyes fluttered to a bright green. Cindy Jumped back in surprise, but these weren't the only changes.
Cindy began to feel ticklish. Everywhere. She desperately looked on her skin to see what could be causing the sudden sensation. She couldn't believe what she saw. Short, oft orange fur was scattering all over her body, growing out of every pore on her skin. When she looked back in the mirror, it was already fully covering her. She looked almost like she was covered in cheeto dust.
A dull pulling sensation quickly became her new focus, as her nose and moth began to form together into a small snout of some sort. Cindy wanted to scream, but was too shocked by the events unfolding. She just watched as three small freckles appeared on each side of her face.
The top of her head felt uncomfortable, so she felt up under her hat to see what was there. She felt felt-like triangular ears, taking up space inside that hat. Then she noticed that the new hears seemed to have replaced her former human ears!
Before she could even take in the new things she could hear, her spine began to tingle as a blond tail grew straight from her rear. She waved it back and forth in shock. Cindy quickly picked up a red band and wrapped it around the bottom of the tail to keep it from tangling.
Cindy looked down to see she was now standing on her toes. It strangely felt more natural than standing on her feet normally. Her foot grew upward until her ankle became her new knee, forming an awkward hind leg. As she fell forward to the floor, the braced her hands in front of her. However, she was unexpectedly stopped by the tap of hooves, as her feet finished transforming.
Cindy looked back to see three apples on her flank. Then she remembered.
She lived at Sweet Apple Acres with her family, running the family business that was around for generations, using her strong hind legs to knock apples from the trees. She was now a pony. She was Applejack.

Such a Rarity [Anthro Rarity TF]
It was a crisp, bright August morning in New York City as Beth was getting ready for work.
